Our Mission

…and we swore allegiance to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) to speak the truth wherever we were and not to fear the blame of the blamers.

(Ubada bin as-Samit, reporting about the pledge of Aqaba)

The Renascence Foundation is an independent not-for-profit organisation.  We are not affiliated to any government or governmental institution.  Our mission is to help revive, reinvigorate and stimulate contemporary Islamic thought by presenting in English key works and principles that have for too long laid dormant and neglected.

It is our intention to try and equip our readers with a thorough grounding in Islamic principles and critical thinking.

We also intend to present in English excerpts from key works that have not been translated previously.  Amongst these are: al-Muḥalla bil Athār (The Adorned Treatise) and al-Iḥkām fi-Uṣul al-Aḥkām (Judgement on the Principles of Law) by Ibn Ḥazm.

We are also serialising chapters from Kitāb at-Tawḥeed: A’sās al-Islām wa Ḥaqeeqat-at-Tawḥeed (The Book of Monotheism: The Foundation of Islam and the Reality of Monotheism), the magnum opus written by Professor Muḥammad bin Abdallah al-Mas’ari.  Volume one in English will be published in due course.

In addition to this, our small team of staff writers will be contributing shorter pieces covering a wide range of topical subjects.

Translation is not always an exact science.  We welcome any improvements or suggestions that can be made in this regard.

Should you wish to support our efforts, either by way of translation or by financial contribution, please do not hesitate to contact us.
